The Pacific Episode 7 / The Pacific Part 7 - The Battle of Peleliu was dotted with controversy later during the war as to its strategic value with regards to the war against the Japanese empire. This campaign has caused the hightest casualty rate in the Pacific war and many are skeptical as whether the capture of Peleliu island is worth the lives of the men who sacrificed their lives to regain the island.
In The Pacific Episode 7 / The Pacific Part 7, the Marines faces the worst of the enemy as suicidal Japanese soldiers are vowed to fight to the end in this battle of Peleliu. The severe savageness and violence of the ordeal affects newly christened "Sledgehammer" to the verge of moral hopelessness. After days of unrelenting tests of human endurance, the mission is finally accomplished and the Marines were transfered to Pavuvu, their lives forever changed.
